Large Silver-Colored Coin with Royal Motifs
Location: Poland · Period: Possibly 16th–17th century (uncertain) · Material: Silver-colored copper alloy (possibly silvered)
Description
Large silver-colored coin with a detailed portrait of a crowned ruler on the obverse, holding a globus cruciger and wearing richly decorated clothing. The surface shows strong wear, cracks and patina typical of long-term aging.
The reverse features a heraldic shield with a crowned eagle surrounded by an ornate border and a partially readable date that appears to resemble 155x, though this remains uncertain.
Found with a metal detector on farmland in southern Poland.
Due to stylistic similarities with early modern European coinage but lacking full readability, the exact origin, date and denomination of this coin remain unknown — making it a genuine mystery for identification.
