Ancient Bronze Fibula with Decorative Bow
Location: Serbia · Period: Possibly Roman or Early Medieval (uncertain) · Material: Bronze (copper alloy)
Description
Old bronze fibula with a curved bow and richly decorated headplate. The surface shows heavy corrosion, green patina and soil residue, suggesting long-term burial. The pin is partially intact, while the catchplate appears heavily worn or damaged.
Found with a metal detector on hilly terrain in northern Serbia.
The craftsmanship resembles Roman or early medieval fibula designs, but without precise classification or inscriptions, the exact dating remains unknown — making this brooch an intriguing mystery item.
