Old German Silver-Colored Coin with Worn Obverse
Location: Germany · Period: 19th century (uncertain) · Material: Silvered copper alloy
Description
Old silver-colored coin with a heavily worn obverse showing only faint traces of a bust or symbol. The reverse side is better preserved, displaying the text “1 SILBER GROSCHEN”, the date 1823, and a small mintmark A.
Found with a metal detector beside an old forest path in southern Germany.
Although the reverse suggests a 19th-century issue, the poor condition of the obverse makes the identification uncertain — leaving this piece as an interesting mystery.
